> Add Grovs to VS Code so GitHub Copilot's agent mode can manage links and read analytics.

Add the Grovs MCP server to [VS Code](https://code.visualstudio.com) and GitHub Copilot's agent mode can create deep links, read analytics and change project settings from the chat.

## Prerequisites

- VS Code with GitHub Copilot, using agent mode
- A Grovs account with at least one project

## One-click install

[Add the Grovs server to VS Code](vscode:mcp/install?%7B%22name%22%3A%22grovs%22%2C%22type%22%3A%22http%22%2C%22url%22%3A%22https%3A%2F%2Fmcp.grovs.io%2Fmcp%22%7D). VS Code opens and asks you to confirm the install. The same button is on [Build with AI](https://docs.grovs.io/docs/ai#connect-the-mcp-server) and in every page's menu.

## Manual setup

### 1. Add the server

To add Grovs to one workspace, create `.vscode/mcp.json` in the project:

```json
{
  "servers": {
    "grovs": {
      "type": "http",
      "url": "https://mcp.grovs.io/mcp"
    }
  }
}
```

### 2. Authorize access

Start the server from the `mcp.json` editor or the Copilot chat. VS Code opens a browser for the OAuth flow:

1. Log in to your Grovs account if prompted
2. Review the permissions and click **Authorize**
3. Return to VS Code. The server shows as running.

### 3. Start using Grovs

Open Copilot chat in **Agent** mode and try:

- _"List my Grovs projects"_
- _"Create a link for the refill screen with path /refill and data screen=refill"_
- _"Show analytics for the last 7 days"_

> **Note:** Self-hosting Grovs? Use your own MCP server's URL; see [Self-hosted MCP](https://docs.grovs.io/docs/ai/mcp/self-hosted).

## Managing the connection

To disconnect, remove the `grovs` entry from `mcp.json`, and revoke access from the Grovs dashboard; see [Revoking access](https://docs.grovs.io/docs/ai/mcp/introduction#revoking-access).
