# Smart banners

> Show an app banner on your mobile website that opens your app on the same page, or sends people to the store and deep links them after install.

You design and target banners in **Links → Smart Banners**. The [Web SDK](https://docs.grovs.io/docs/sdk/web) draws them on your site, so there's no extra script to add.

- [Set up smart banners](https://docs.grovs.io/docs/links/smart-banners/set-up): Link your domain, design a banner, choose its pages and tell it what each page is about.
- [How banners behave](https://docs.grovs.io/docs/links/smart-banners/behaviour): When a banner shows, how it hides after a close or a tap, and what it counts.

## What a smart banner does

| Question | Answer |
| ----------------------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Who sees it** | Visitors in mobile browsers on iPhone, iPad and Android. Never desktop |
| **Where** | On the pages you choose, at the top of the page or fixed to the bottom of the screen |
| **What the button does** | Opens your app when it's installed. Otherwise it goes to the store, and after install your app receives the link's data, as with any Grovs link |
| **Lands on the right screen** | Tell the banner what the page is about, such as `product_id: 42`, and the app receives it. Other pages use the banner's default link |
| **Stays out of the way** | Hidden for 7 days after a close and 30 days after a tap, by default |
