How to Create a Link

Create a link in the dashboard and set its path, data, social preview, redirects and tracking.

Before you start, pick the right environment (Production or Test) in the dashboard header. For mobile links, integrate the SDK and set your project's redirects in Project setup.

1
Open the link form

Go to Links → Dynamic Links and click Create Link.

2
Choose a path and name

In Details, enter a custom path such as /summer-sale. Paths must be unique within the project.

Add a link name (internal only) and optional tags to organize and filter links.

3
Pick the link type

Use for general links, or when your ad platform isn't listed.

4
Set the social preview

In Social Media Preview, set the title, description and image shown when the link is shared. Empty fields use the project defaults from Project setup.

5
Add data

In Data, add key-value pairs your app or website receives. Keys and values are unrestricted.

  • Open a section: section: profile
  • Pass a coupon: coupon: 25OFF
6
Override redirects

In Redirects, choose a behavior for iOS, Android and Desktop:

OptionBehavior
DefaultUses the project's redirect rules.
Redirect to WebAlways sends the user to a web URL.
App or FallbackiOS and Android only. Opens the app, or a fallback URL if it isn't installed.

On iOS and Android, also choose the preview page:

OptionBehavior
DefaultUses the project's preview setting.
Show preview pageShows a branded screen with your app logo and name before redirecting. Improves deep-linking accuracy.
Skip preview pageRedirects straight to the app or fallback URL. May reduce deep-linking accuracy.
7
Add tracking parameters

In Tracking, set the campaign Source, Medium and Campaign. This is campaign data for Google Analytics, Google Play and the App Store.

8
Create the link

Click Create. Use the link in ads, social posts, emails or anywhere else.
