Project setup
Set your project's redirect rules, link domain and social preview in the Grovs dashboard.
Set where a Grovs link sends people on each platform, your link domain, and the preview shown when a link is shared. All three live under Links → Link Settings. The guided setup covers the same settings.
Redirect rules apply to every link in the project, past and future, including SDK links. A single link can override them when you create it.
Redirect rules
Open Links → Link Settings → Redirect Rules.
The Fallback URL is where a link goes when no other rule applies, usually your home page. It's required to save.
For each platform, pick one:
-
Redirect to Web sends everyone on that platform to the URL you enter. Use it if you have no app on that platform yet.
-
Redirect to App opens your app when it's installed and passes the link's data to the SDK. Then choose:
- When app is not installed: the App Store or Google Play Store listing, or a Custom URL such as a landing page. After install, the SDK still delivers the link's data (deferred deep linking).
- App preview page: Show Preview (recommended) shows your app's name, icon and an open button before redirecting, which helps on browsers that block automatic redirects. Skip Preview redirects at once, but some browsers may not open the app.
- Social app browsers: see below.
Apple's and Android's link verification files are only served for a platform set to Redirect to App.
Under Desktops & Laptops, Grovs Page shows a QR code and download links for your app. Custom URL sends desktop visitors to a page you choose.
Click Save. Every link follows the new rules right away.
Social app browsers
Instagram, Facebook, TikTok and similar apps open links in their own browser, which often can't open your app. For each platform set to Redirect to App, choose:
- Open-in-app page: show a one-tap page that opens your app.
- Redirect as usual: treat them like any other browser.
Domain
Open Links → Link Settings → Domain. Each project gets a Grovs subdomain for its links. Pick a different one, or use your own domain.
Changing the subdomain breaks every link on the old one. Released apps can't open links on the new one until you update their associated domains and intent filters. Avoid it while campaigns run.
Social preview
Open Links → Link Settings → Social Preview. Set the default image, title and description shown when a link is shared on social networks or in messaging apps. A single link can override them, for example for a seasonal campaign.
