Scaleway
Run the full Grovs stack on a Scaleway Instance, over SSH or with cloud-init before first boot.
When to use
You want one Scaleway Instance running the whole stack.
Prerequisites
The shared VM prerequisites: fresh Ubuntu 24.04 x86_64, 4 vCPU, 8 GB RAM, 80 GB SSD, public IPv4, SSH key, domain. Scaleway bills you for the server, storage and traffic.
1. Prepare DNS and firewall
Configure the Instance's security group to allow inbound TCP 80/443 from the internet and TCP 22 only from your public IP. Allow outbound traffic.
2. Create the server
- In your Scaleway project, create an x86 Instance with the plain Ubuntu 24.04 image and the resources above. Choose a persistent root volume.
- Assign a public IPv4 address and add your SSH public key.
- Start the Instance and connect with
ssh root@YOUR_SERVER_IP. To use cloud-init instead, do not start it yet (see step 3).
See Scaleway's Instance creation guide.
3. Install Grovs
Over SSH: run the shared installer.
With cloud-init: for a fresh Instance that has not started yet, generate the cloud-init file. With the Scaleway CLI configured for the correct project and zone, attach it before the first boot, replacing SERVER_ID with your Instance ID:
scw instance server update SERVER_ID cloud-init=@/tmp/grovs-cloud-init.yaml
scw instance server start SERVER_IDSee Scaleway's cloud-init instructions.
Point the DNS records at the public IPv4 shown in the Scaleway console.
4. Deploy and verify
Follow the shared verify steps.
