Vultr
Run the full Grovs stack on a Vultr Cloud Compute instance with the shared Ubuntu installer.
When to use
You want one Vultr Cloud Compute instance running the whole stack.
Prerequisites
The shared VM prerequisites: fresh Ubuntu 24.04 x86_64, 4 vCPU, 8 GB RAM, 80 GB SSD, public IPv4, SSH key, domain. Vultr bills you for the server, storage and traffic.
1. Prepare DNS and firewall
Create a Vultr Firewall group that allows inbound TCP 80/443 from the internet and TCP 22 from your public IP. Allow outbound traffic. See Vultr's firewall guide.
2. Create the server
- Deploy a Cloud Compute server in your chosen region.
- Select the plain Ubuntu 24.04 image, an x86 plan with the resources above, and your SSH public key.
- Attach the firewall group and deploy.
- Connect with
ssh root@YOUR_SERVER_IP.
3. Install Grovs
Run the shared installer over SSH. Point the DNS records at the public IPv4 shown in the Vultr console.
4. Deploy and verify
Follow the shared verify steps.
Upgrades
See the shared VM upgrade notes.
Gotchas
Run sudo ufw status. If UFW is active, also allow 80/tcp and 443/tcp there, keeping your SSH access. More in the shared gotchas.
